Panerai PAM177 features

Panerai PAM177 is excellent gentlemen’s watch that belongs to Panerai Historic collection line. Just like any other Panerai Luminor, it will sit big on your wrist as it is large in size (44mm in diameter). The case of this model is brushed Titanium with already familiar crown protector. Being made out of Titanium, PAM177 is noticeably lighter that other Luminors.

Not only having remarkable physical, mechanical and corrosion-resistant qualities, Titanium is light, strong and hypoallergenic. Furthermore, titanium has the same strength as steel but is 40% lighter.

We have reviewed differences on Panerai Titanium and Steel models. PAM177 has fixed bezel and black dial that’s strapped on luxurious leather strap.

Like most of today’s models, Panerai PAM177 case is covered with 3.5mm thick sapphire crystals with anti-glare coating. The back of the case is also covered with sapphire crystals so you can see through it and admire that great looking OP XI movement from Panerai. However, the front facing sapphire is a bit curved and treated so it is more though and scratch resistant.

If you take a look at the back, you will see the OP XI movement that’s been introduced in 2002 as a refinement of OP X movement. Panerai PAM177 has been introduced as the upgrade to the PAM176 which has slightly older OP X movement and lacks the seconds dials. The base for this movement is Swiss made manual winding movement featuring 17 jewels and beating at 21.600 semi oscillations her hour (3 Hz). Being a manual wind, it has power reserve of 56h when fully winded. This fine movement has proven to be exquisite and comes with C.O.S.C meaning that it has been tested and acknowledged as the elite among Swiss watches. Therefore, no need for any doubt in accuracy and reliability.

Panerai PAM177 features hour, minute and small seconds dials which are all displayed on black sandwich dial. This means that the lumious hour markers are created using trademarked Panerai technology and provides great night experience. Note that PAM177 has a slightly older OP X movement and lacks small seconds dial. As you may expect, this Panerai as any other is very well built and you can rest assured that there won’t be anything wrong with this timepiece. Furthermore, it is water resistant up to 300m.
